Adobong baboy is a household name and dish for all kinds of age in the Philippines. This dish was introduced to us by one of the interviewees, Fredelyn and it has a very special meaning to her. Her mother would cook adobong baboy for her since she was little. When she was in high school, her mother taught her how to cook and season this dish. Fredelyn would cook this dish for her own children as well. Fredelyn’s children are quite little at the moment, she expressed that she would pass down this recipe to her children hoping it would go on from generation to generation and keep the recipe alive within the family. To Fredelyn and her family, adobong baboy is not about cooking or seasoning but tasting the flavors of family and reminiscing the good time they shared. We believe that, no matter how simple and plain a dish is, as long as it is seasoned with love and memories within the family, it would be the unique, precious heirloom.
